RCMP track down man sought on B.C.-wide warrants
A man wanted on B.C.-wide warrants has been arrested after a coordinated air and ground response by RCMP.
Police said at around 10 a.m. this morning, Aug. 10, Kelowna RCMP received information that a man who was wanted for several outstanding warrants out of Creston was driving a stolen pickup. The Ford F-250 pickup truck had been reported stolen out of Golden.
“Kelowna police officers with the support of the RCMP Air Services soon located the vehicle and set up containment. This forced the driver and his passenger to abandon the truck and attempt to flee on foot,” said Constable Mike Della-Paolera, media relations officer.
RCMP in the air and a police dog team on the ground were able to track the fleeing man, and the 38-year-old suspected was arrested around 12:30 p.m. A woman with him was also taken into custody.
“It’s was the quick response by all the officers involved that resulted in a safe arrest and removed this dangerous criminal from our streets,” said Della-Paolera.
The man is facing seven charges from his warrant and it’s expected he will be facing several additional charges including possession of stolen property, flight from police, driving while prohibited and resisting arrest.
