New locations sought for Okanagan film/TV projects
The agency that facilitates film and television projects in the Okanagan is looking for new locations for the fast growing industry.
Okanagan Film commissioner Jon Summerland said as the valley’s film activity continues expanding exponentially, there is a high interest for certain types of locations and buildings.
Gord Wylie, locations officer for the commission, said they are looking for desert ranchlands and large, arid properties with landscape features including mountain views, rivers, lakes, and rock formations.
“As well, we are scouting for land with features such as derelict and tumble down buildings, houses, barns, and even old warehouses,” said Wylie.
The areas that the agency is searching are from Penticton south to the U.S. border, into the Kootenay-Boundary region and as far west as Princeton.
“This region is now a film production center, and as such, there is interest in these types of locations,” said Summerland. “If you have any questions about properties and/or buildings that might be suitable, as described above, for a film/TV location, please contact Gord at gwyliephoto@gmail.com.”
