A dirt biker who was injured by Little White Mountain near Kelowna was rescued by the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) Wednesday night.

The woman reportedly crashed while single tracking, injuring her leg to an extent where she could not ride or walk out.

COSAR sent out a dozen volunteers, including the ATV, UTV and eBike team at around 7 p.m.

The eBike team made first contact with the rider and her partners at around 9 p.m. The team administered first aid while the others prepared for extraction.

At 2:15 a.m., the rider was handed off to paramedics and transported to hospital.

“The group of three riders were well prepared, and able to communicate their location, keep their riding partner warm with a fire, and shelter her from the rain,” said search manager Rob Braun.

This was COSAR’s 69th call-out of the year.

The search and rescue group encourages people to learn about trip planning, the 10 essentials and training at the Adventure Smart website prior to taking on outdoor activities.
