In case you missed it, effective Saturday covid requirements for travelers in Canada will no longer be in effect. That means you no longer wear a mask on planes or trains and the ArriveCan app is just a suggestion. Also gone will be all COVID border restrictions for anyone entering Canada, including proof of vaccination, quarantine and isolation requirements.

Lake Country RCMP is asking for help identifying a man in an investigation involving a car theft. It happened August 31st when a 2008 white Subaru was stolen from a home in the Springfield Road area. It was later found on Hein Road. The suspect is described as white, wearing a gray long sleeve shirt, jeans, two long chain necklaces, a black mask and an orange glove on his left hand.

A man detained at the scene of a Montreal-area triple homicide now faces murder and arson charges. A 38-year-old woman and her children, aged five and two, were declared dead in hospital on Sunday after being found inside a burning apartment on Montreal’s South Shore. The suspect was taken into custody and was originally described by local police as an important witness.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he has asked the RCMP to look into “disgusting” comments made by the leader of a far-right group about sexually assaulting his wife. Jeremy MacKenzie is the founder of an online group which shares members and affiliation with the Freedom Convoy, as well as those opposed to government-mandated health restrictions. He is facing assault and firearms charges in Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia in separate incidents.

The start of open burning in the Central Okanagan is being delayed. Local fire chiefs have agreed to hold off issuing any outdoor burning permits due to the ongoing high fire danger rating. They will continue to monitor conditions and determine a start date. Normally when the fire hazard allows, open burning permits run from October 1 through April 30 for eligible property owners

The Post-Secondary Employers’ Association has reached a tentative agreement with seven BCGEU support staff locals under the Shared Recovery Mandate. It covers about 3,800 members that provide services in administration, facilities and technical support, food and beverage, library support and teaching assistance. It includes Okanagan College and BCGEU Local 707.

The man who organized the Queen’s funeral has been banned from driving for using his phone behind the wheel. The Duke of Norfolk, who’s worth $147 Million, told magistrates that losing his licence would cause “exceptional hardship” because he needs to drive to organise the coronation of King Charles.

Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser will be sidelined for the next three-to-four weeks after undergoing hand surgery. He injured it during training camp on Saturday. Regular season begins October 12.

Monday Night Football was at Met Life Stadium the Dallas Cowboys sent the Giants fans home with a big disappointment thanks to a 23-16 win. Both teams are now 2 and 1.

The Blue Jays began an important 3 game homestand against the Yankees last night and it went to extra innings. It only went one but Toronto won 3-2. Game 2 goes this afternoon just after 4.

The NFL is replacing the Pro Bowl with weeklong skills competitions and a flag football game. The 2023 Games will be held in Las Vegas, and the flag football game at Allegiant Stadium is Sunday, Feb. 5… a week before the Super Bowl.

First quarterback Nathan Rourke went down with an injury, now the BC Lions could be without star receiver Bryan Burnham for the foreseeable future. The veteran suffered a fractured wrist in the team’s loss to the Stampeders on Saturday.

LeBron James is staying even-keeled as he looks ahead at likely surpassing Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar atop the NBA’s all-time scoring leaderboard this coming season. King James is just 1,326 away from overtaking Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 points
