Interior Health records another 230 COVID-19 cases Wednesday
Interior Health recorded 230 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the active case count in the health region up to 3,203.
The new cases were part of 553 reported province-wide with 5,580 cases now active in British Columbia.
The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in B.C. as of Wednesday is 107, and 53 of those patients are in intensive care. Of those hospitalizations, 41 are patients in the interior, 20 of whom are in intensive care.
There was one new death related to COVID-19, and the provincial death toll is now 1,782.
Nicola Meadows in the Interior Health region was listed as a new outbreak site, bringing the number of active outbreaks up to 11. The other long-term care outbreak sites in the interior include the Village at Mill Creekâs second floor, Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre and Brookhaven Care Centre.
Two assisted or independent living facilities in the Interior, Hawthorn Park and David Loyd, are also listed as outbreak sites.
Meantime, the vaccination rate for British Columbians aged 12 and up rose to 82.8 per cent Wednesday, and 73.8 per cent of eligible recipients have gotten both their doses.
