COVID-19 cases climb in the Interior

The Interior has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases on a weekly basis.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported a total of 126 confirmed cases of the virus in the region between December 25 and 31.

That figure was up from the previous reporting week which saw 104 cases in the Interior.

Though the figures rose on a weekly figure, the Interior saw 10 COVID-19 positive patients admitted to hospital, down from 26 the week before.

The preliminary mortality report stated there were three deaths linked to the virus in the Interior, down from the 12 deaths the previous week.

B.C., as a whole, saw similar trends in the latest reporting week.

There were 693 cases in the latest week, up from the 556 confirmed the week before.

There were 123 hospitalizations and a preliminary count of 13 deaths between Dec. 25 and 31, down from the 199 hospital admissions and 50 deaths the week prior.
