The Transportation Safety Board is investigating an engine fire that led to a WestJet flight making an emergency landing at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) Thursday afternoon (March 2).

The De Havilland DHC-8-402 aircraft, which was en route from Kamloops to Calgary, landed safely at YLW, and the estimated 80 passengers were rebooked on different flights.

“The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence,” a news release from the TSB stated.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences to advance transportation safety. The Board does not assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
