After an investigation that lasted nearly a month, West Kelowna RCMP arrested a motorcyclist that had been seen driving at high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic on a number of occasions. On March 2nd the blue bike was spotted in an open garage on McIver Road and police made an arrest. Authorities will be forwarding their investigation to the Crown, recommending multiple charges.

Kelowna International Airport’s Spring Travel Show, happens Saturday from 11 to 3 at the KF Centre for Excellence. It’s free to get in, and there will be travel-related vendors for anyone looking to plan their next vacation. There will also be tickets to purchase for door prizes including resort stays, meals, and airline tickets

If new pay transparency legislation is passed in BC, as of Nov. 1, all employers will be required to include wage or salary ranges on all publicly advertised jobs. In addition, employers will not be able to ask prospective employees for pay history information or punish employees who disclose their pay to co-workers or potential job applicants

The land that has been home to the New Life church in Kelowna, is getting a new life itself. The big brown and white building on Harvey Avenue across from Hardy will be torn down to make way for a 2 tower residential/commercial development that will include a space for the church. The whole plan still has to be approved by the city.

Rebates of up to $1,500 are available for Central Okanagan residents that recycle an old wood burning appliance and replace it with newer, cleaner burning technology. New incentive levels and a bounty option are included in the rebate program along with increased incentives for Westbank First Nation members. There are 4 participating stores: Rockworld, Firecraft, Fireplace Den and White’s Barbecue and Fireplace.

City councillors in Grande Prairie have voted in favour of replacing the RCMP with its own municipal police service. The Alberta government said it would give the city $9.7 million over two years to help cover transitional costs if council were to vote for the local force. The total cost of the proposed service is about $19 million.

Single family home sales in the Central Okanagan fell 47% last month compared to a year ago while the medium price was down 14% to $971,000. Condo sales tumbled 56% while the price dipped 8% to $496,000. The number of active listings were up 133% compared to February of 2022.

Kelowna council was given the results of the 2022 Transportation Citizen Survey. It shows residents’ support for improvements to the transportation network, with investing in, or promoting walking, biking, transit or other sustainable modes of transportation.

Canada Border Services Agency helped put two Montreal-based companies with alleged ties to the Russian military on a United States sanctions list. CPUNTO inc. and Electronic Network describe themselves online as sellers of electronic components. The action bars them from exporting almost any item manufactured in the U.S., including intellectual property.

The Kelowna Rockets are on home ice tonight as they host the Prince George Cougars. Pregame show on 1047 The Lizard begins at 6:35.

In Vancouver the Canucks continue their homestand as the Anaheim Ducks visit Rogers Arena at 7. Vancouver is 6th in the Western Pacific Division ahead of the Ducks and Sharks.

The Seahawks and quarterback Geno Smith have agreed to a three-year, $105-million deal. He set franchise records last year for passing yards and completion percentage.

The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had conversations on Monday. He signed a three-year, $150-million contract with Green Bay last offseason.
