Today and tomorrow, motorists can expect southbound lane closures on Gordon between Ladner and Cook for paving between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Gordon using the northbound lanes and but drivers can expect delays.
There were just under 2,000 new cases of covid-19 in BC over the weekend. 414 of them were in Interior Health. On Friday, 81.1 percent of those 12 and over had both doses on vaccine. Yesterday, the number was 81.6 .
A poll suggests nearly 70 percent of Canadian organizations facing a ransomware attack last year paid the demands to avoid downtime, reputational damage and other costs. Canada has faced some high-profile ransomware attacks affecting hospitals, RCMP detachments and major energy pipelines.
More than 3.1 million campers stayed in provincial parks during the 2021 camping season, while more than 260-thousand reservations were made on Discover Camping… the highest on record. BC Parks is investing $21.5 million during the next three years to expand opportunities for outdoor recreation, including new campsites, trails and upgrades to facilities.
The number of liquor stores in BC will not grow for another decade. The moratorium extension is meant to protect public health and provide certainty for the industry. The Liquor Distribution Branch says it respects the moratorium and will not grow its network of BC Liquor Stores while the moratorium is in place.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says it’s working with other governments still dubious about allowing Canadians with mixed vaccines to travel across their borders without quarantining. Several countries, including the United States, only recognize people with two identical doses of an approved vaccine as being fully vaccinated. Ottawa is expected to release more details about a standardized vaccine passport for Canadians in the coming weeks.
As of yesterday, 17 schools in the Central Okanagan district were reporting covid-19 exposures. They were made up of middle and elementary schools. In all of Interior Health, 79 schools have had exposures within the past 14 days.
Serena Bosley of Salmon Arm won half a Million dollars in a Lotto 6/49 draw and plans to use the funds to purchase a new truck and some real estate. She checked her ticket from the Sept.1 draw, and saw all the zeros. BC Lottery Corporation says British Columbians have won more that $67 million from 6/49 this year.
Health Canada is recalling one lot of Mirvala 28, a prescription birth control pill, because the blister pack may contain an extra placebo pill, which is green, in place of an active white one. Each package is supposed to have 21 white pills and 7 green ones. Specific details are on the Health Canada Recalls website.

It’s the first visit of the Seattle Kraken to Rogers Arena. The Canucks host their I-5 rivals tonight at 7. So far in the preseason Vancouver is 2 & 2, while Seattle is 3 & 2.
The BC Lions say that wide receiver Lucky Whitehead will undergo surgery tomorrow after breaking his hand in last week’s loss to Winnipeg. Whitehead’s timeline on a return to the lineup is 2-4 weeks.
Monday Night Football in Inglewood, California, the L-A Chargers were never behind, beating the Raiders 28-14. And week 10 in the CFL begins tomorrow with Ottawa visiting Toronto.
As expected, a lot of people watched Tom Brady’s return to New England. The Sunday Night Football game between the Patriots and Buccaneers generated a total audience of about 28.5 million viewers across all NBC platforms… the most since 2012.
The American League wildcard game goes this afternoon at 5. The Yankees and Red Sox will decide who moves on to the playoffs.
Former Canuck head coach Alain Vigneault, who’s behind the bench in Philly now, doesn’t agree with Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner’s criticisms of his leadership. Lehner tweeted about several issues in the NHL, including the allegedly widespread improper distribution of prescription drugs. He took aim at Vigneault calling him a dinosaur.
