The last tickets for the Rivalry Series game will go on sale this morning at 10 online at selectyourtickets.com, or in person or by phone at the Prospera Place box office. The game between the Canadian and American Women’s Hockey Teams is next Tuesday at Prospera Place at 7. It will be Canada’s first game on Canadian soil since winning gold at the Olympics and Worlds.
David Eby will be sworn in as BC’s premier next Friday at the Musqueam Community Centre in Vancouver. His cabinet will be sworn in on Dec. 7, at Government House in Victoria. Eby says because of the Musqueam peoples’ efforts, it will be a powerful symbol of a shared vision for a province that delivers results for all British Columbians.
Firefighters will now have easier access to workers’ compensation benefits and support services in recognition of their higher risk of developing work-related cancers. The Province is adding two cancers – pancreatic and thyroid – to the existing list of diseases that firefighters are at increased risk of developing. They will be eligible for WCB without having to prove the cancer is work-related.
There will be a few road closures in Kelowna on Friday for Remembrance Day. A Legion parade will see Abbott St. closed between Bernard and Lawrence beginning at 10:30 with barricades on Bernard at Mill. Also from 11:30 to 12:30, Lawrence will be closed between Abbott and Water and Water will be closed from Lawrence to the Queensway traffic circle. Tomorrow we’ll run down the observances in Kelowna and West Kelowna.
53 percent of British Columbians want the province’s name to stay the same. In a survey that pops up every few years, Research Co. was told by 32 percent of respondents they’d like to see a change to reflect the Indigenous heritage of the province. Of the 800 people surveyed, about two-thirds don’t see any problem with the name.
Alberta’s Court of Appeal has dismissed the case of a woman who was unable to get an organ transplant because she refused to take a COVID-19 vaccine. She was placed on a transplant waitlist in 2020, but was told a year later she would need to get the vaccine to receive an organ. She argued the vaccine requirement violates her right to life.
The Buy BC branding will soon be featured at Save-On Foods 125 locations throughout the province. Since relaunching Buy BC, the program has invested $10 million to support more than 300 producers, processors, co-operatives, agriculture fairs, farmers’ markets and associations. Marketing activities generated approximately $80 million in sales.

And sometime next year, India will surpass China as the globe’s most populated country. The UN estimates 821 million people are undernourished, many of them low-income consumers, women and children who are especially vulnerable.
